Mr. Jamal is a registered Professional Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAPASA) and Registered Professional Scientist with SACNASP with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Geography & Environmental Management and an Honours in Environmental Science with over 15 years of experience in the environmental sector.

He served 10 years in government engaging with environmental legal compliance monitoring and enforcement, waste and pollution management and EIAs and was an Environmental Management Inspector for the Green Scorpions since 2010. He was employed in all 3 spheres of government including the National DWS, the National DEA, The KZN DEDTEA and the eThekwini Municipality. Mr Jamal has been active in the NGO sector for the past 15 years as a fundraiser, trustee and activist and was awarded as One of 200 Top Young South Africans by Mail & Guardian, as Climate Reality Leader by Climate Reality, Council Member of the KZN Climate Change and Sustainable Development Council and Chair of the International Association for Impact Assessment – KZN Branch..

With a year of hands-on experience, she has been actively involved in environmental impact assessments, environmental auditing, and serving as an Environmental Control Officer on various projects. Mr. Motala is a graduate of the University of Kwazulu Natal completing his Bachelor of Social Science in Geography & Environmental Management. He has assisted the Project Manager in the Invasive Alien Species Programme at Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, managing the removal of alien plant species within these reserves to ensure healthy indigenous ecosystems and sustainable ecological growth.

Mr. Motala shares a passion for fishing and the protection of marine, coastal and riverine systems through sustainable fishing practices.
